Cody Powell, MPA
After high school, Cody spent 6 years in the United States Marine Corps before becoming a firefighter/ paramedic. He spent close to 12 years in operations and had the opportunity to serve in various roles including Tactical Paramedic, Public Safety Diver and, Swift Water Rescue Technician. When he was given the opportunity to become the first full time Emergency Management Coordinator in his home county, he took it and has never looked back. During his last four years, Cody has coordinated the response efforts for the Covid-19 pandemic, February 2021 Winter Weather/ power outage, and multiple wildfires. He is a member of the Regional Emergency Preparedness Advisory Council and Technology Officer of the North Texas Public Safety Unmanned Response Team. His education includes a Bachelor of Applied Science From Wayland Baptist University and Master of Public Administration from Sam Houston State University.
